This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Especialista em Banco de Dados IDMS based in Brazil. This role is focused on supporting and evolving critical mainframe environments and database systems in complex enterprise settings. You will work extensively with z/OS, Enterprise COBOL, CICS, DB2, CA-IDMS, VSAM, and related IBM technologies. The position combines application development, database expertise, performance analysis, and technical troubleshooting. You will contribute to both online and batch processing environments while supporting reliable, high-availability systems. The role also offers exposure to DevOps practices, code quality, service-oriented architecture, and business modeling. Strong autonomy, technical judgment, and communication skills will be important when working across complex systems and business requirements. Support the z/OS operating system and associated utilities within critical mainframe environments. Develop and maintain applications using Enterprise COBOL 4.0 or higher. Design, develop, and maintain CICS transactions, including applications requiring multithreading capabilities. Work across both online and batch processing environments. Develop and maintain database solutions using relational database technologies, particularly DB2 and CA-IDMS. Develop database routines using DB2 Native Stored Procedures. Work with VSAM files and investigate application or system issues using DUMP analysis. Perform application and database performance analysis within z/OS environments. Apply database modeling and business modeling practices using CA-GEn 8+. Work with CICS control tools and access interfaces, including CICS/WEB, Broker, and MQ Series. Contribute to service-oriented architecture initiatives and the development of scalable enterprise solutions. Support the adoption and implementation of DevOps tools, technologies, and practices. Promote code quality and maintainability across development activities. Analyze technical requirements and contribute to solutions that align with business and operational needs. Requirements: Proven professional experience working with IBM mainframe environments and z/OS. Strong knowledge of z/OS operating system support and associated utilities. Experience performing application and database performance analysis in z/OS environments. Advanced programming experience with Enterprise COBOL 4.0 or later. Hands-on experience developing CICS transactions, including multithreading. Strong knowledge of relational database concepts and practical experience with DB2 and CA-IDMS. Experience developing DB2 Native Stored Procedures. Experience working with VSAM files and analyzing DUMPs. Knowledge of database modeling and business modeling using CA-GEn 8 or later. Practical experience with CICS control tools and interfaces, CICS/WEB, Broker, and MQ Series. Understanding of DevOps tools and technologies, with an interest in applying modern development and delivery practices to mainframe environments. Knowledge of service-oriented architecture and enterprise application environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly when troubleshooting complex technical environments. Ability to work independently, organize priorities, and manage responsibilities with limited supervision.
