Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Executive Director, Alliance Management based in the United States. This senior leadership role is responsible for maximizing the value and effectiveness of strategic alliances across research, development, and commercialization. You will lead complex global partnerships and ensure successful execution throughout the full product life cycle. The position combines strategic alliance leadership with hands-on governance, risk management, and cross-functional coordination. You will serve as a trusted partner to internal senior leaders and external stakeholders while helping ensure partnership objectives remain aligned. The role also provides an opportunity to shape alliance-management capabilities and develop a high-performing team. Success requires strong business judgment, collaborative leadership, and the ability to navigate complex priorities in a dynamic environment.

Own and lead global strategic alliances, ensuring key partnership objectives are achieved while maintaining productive, long-term relationships. Oversee the execution of partnership agreements, including governance committees, working groups, agendas, meetings, deliverables, and cross-functional preparation. Partner with external organizations to establish alliance direction, scope, responsibilities, timelines, and implementation plans. Maintain regular communication with alliance-management counterparts and key partner stakeholders, coordinating cross-functional activities as needed. Identify, assess, and proactively address legal, business, operational, and relationship risks across alliances. Conduct regular alliance health checks and audits to assess performance, identify issues, and protect partnership value. Coordinate internally with Business Development, Legal, Finance, Clinical Development, Commercial, and other functions to manage contractual commitments, milestones, financial transactions, and reporting. Monitor research, development, and commercialization plans and take appropriate action to support successful execution. Build strong relationships with senior leaders, communicate critical alliance developments, and drive alignment around key value inflection points. Lead or contribute to contract renegotiations and new partnership negotiations, including recommendations regarding governance structures and execution terms. Develop deep knowledge of partner organizations, leadership, strategies, financials, and priorities, serving as an internal subject-matter expert on key partners. Participate in alliance-management forums to review progress, address challenges, exchange best practices, and strengthen organizational capabilities. Represent the organization at relevant external partnering and alliance-management events. Hire, lead, and develop alliance-management professionals as business needs evolve. Requirements: 14+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or related industry, preferably in commercial, business development, project leadership, or project management environments. 10+ years of dedicated alliance-management experience. Demonstrated experience in drug development and participation in development and life-cycle-management project teams. Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree such as PharmD, PhD, MS, MBA, or MD in a relevant scientific or business discipline is desirable. Strong ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve complex partnership and project issues. Excellent project-management capabilities, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Proven ability to coordinate diverse internal and external stakeholders, reconcile competing demands, and operate effectively in ambiguous environments. Strong strategic, analytical, financial, and business judgment, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable recommendations. Exceptional communication and relationship-management skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with senior executives and external partners. Collaborative, inclusive, proactive, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented approach, with a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Microsoft Project experience is a plus. Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus. Benefits: Annual base salary range of $260,900–$340,900 , with actual compensation determined by factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and work location. Annual bonus eligibility for non-commercial roles; commercial roles may participate in an incentive compensation plan. Eligibility for discretionary equity awards and voluntary participation in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. 401(k) retirement plan. Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) options. Life insurance coverage. Paid time off and wellness benefits. Remote work opportunity within the United States. Equal-opportunity workplace with reasonable-accommodation support for qualified applicants.
