Overview

Flemish Government scholarship supporting eligible recent master's graduates from Flemish higher education to pursue an additional master's degree at a selected top institution abroad in 2027–2028.

Complete scholarship details

Applications for the 2027–2028 Fayatbeurs are accepted from 1 September through 1 December 2026. The scholarship supports an additional master's programme at a selected foreign top institution for the standard programme duration, up to 24 months. Official support includes reimbursement of the institution's registration fee, a location-adjusted allowance for housing and living costs, and a travel allowance. The current travel allowance is EUR 800 for study in Europe, EUR 3,000 for Australia, or EUR 2,000 for destinations outside Europe and Australia. Applicants must also apply separately to the intended foreign institution.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must be final-year master's students or have obtained a master's degree from a Flemish university or university college no more than three years before applying; have excellent academic results and demonstrated leadership; have Dutch proficiency at minimum CEFR C1 if Dutch is not their mother tongue; intend to pursue an additional master's at a selected top institution and not have started that programme; not receive another scholarship for the same programme; and have Belgian nationality or a Belgian national-register/BIS number. Distance education and doctoral programmes are not eligible.

Tips for this scholarship

Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.

  1. Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
  2. Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
  3. Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
  4. Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.

Verification notes

Verified on 5 September 2026 UTC against the official Government of Flanders Fayatbeurzen application, eligibility and financial-support pages. The application page states the 2027–2028 window runs from 1 September through 1 December 2026 at 23:59, but it does not explicitly state a timezone; therefore deadline_date is recorded and deadline is left null rather than inventing a timezone. Eligibility and benefit components were taken from the current official pages.
