About The Role
About Soum Soum is a fast-growing B2C marketplace based in Riyadh, connecting buyers and sellers of used electronics and used cars across Saudi Arabia. Built on trust, speed, and a strong sense of ownership, our Finance function is central to how we scale responsibly — keeping the business financially disciplined as it grows. As Finance Operations Accountant, you'll sit at the centre of Soum's day-to-day financial operations — owning reconciliations, supporting month-end close, and making sure our books in Odoo are accurate and audit-ready at all times. This role suits someone with sharp analytical instincts, a foundation in audit or assurance, and the confidence to work directly with internal teams and external parties (auditors, banks, vendors) alike.
Key responsibilities
• Own day-to-day bookkeeping and ledger accuracy in Odoo — ensuring transactions are correctly coded, classified, and mapped to the right accounts and cost centres.
• Perform monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Support month-end and year-end close: journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial data to flag anomalies, trends, or control gaps before they become issues — bringing an audit-minded eye to routine operations.
• Act as a key point of contact for external auditors — preparing schedules, responding to requests, and ensuring documentation is audit-ready year-round, not just at year-end.
• Partner with internal stakeholders (Commercial, Operations, Procurement) to resolve financial queries and ensure accounting treatment reflects business reality.
• Maintain and improve Odoo-based accounting workflows — identifying automation opportunities and tightening controls as the business scales.
• Support the Senior Accountant on financial reporting, ad hoc analysis, and process documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant local regulatory/tax requirements (e.g., ZATCA, VAT).
What We're Looking For:
• 2–4 years of experience in accounting, finance operations, or audit — audit/assurance background (Big 4 or mid-tier) is a strong plus
• Sharp analytical skills with genuine attention to detail; comfortable digging into numbers until they make sense.
• Hands-on experience with Odoo (or a similar ERP) and a solid understanding of the accounting logic behind it — not just how to enter data, but why it's structured that way.
• Strong stakeholder management skills — able to communicate clearly and confidently with internal teams, auditors, banks, and vendors.
• Solid grounding in accounting principles (IFRS) and practical month-end close experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• A self-starter who takes ownership, moves fast, and holds a high bar for accuracy — fits naturally with Soum's culture of trust, speed, and accountability.
