Applications are now open for the FLIA Creatives in Residence programme at the Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (FLIA), London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The deadline to apply is 7 October 2026 . This one-year fellowship gives African creatives an opportunity to affiliate with FLIA, collaborate with academics, and communicate social science through creative practice.
In addition, selected creatives will produce outputs during the residency, contribute to FLIA platforms, and take part in institute events. Successful applicants must also be able to spend time in London.

About this Program
The FLIA Creatives in Residence programme is designed for African creatives who want to work alongside an academic institute and engage wider audiences through creative practice. Through this residency, fellows affiliate with FLIA at LSE and collaborate with academics around themes linked to social science and Africa.
Moreover, the programme supports creative work that can help communicate ideas beyond traditional academic formats. Fellows are expected to develop a project during the fellowship and share outputs through FLIA channels and events.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants can be of African nationality. Applicants can also be of African descent. Successful applicants must be able to spend time in London.
What Fellows Receive: Affiliation with the Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa (FLIA) at LSE; collaboration opportunities with LSE academics; platform to communicate social science through creative practice; opportunity to contribute to FLIA publications and participate in events. Program Components include producing one creative output during the residency, contributing to the Institute’s blog or the Hub for African Thought, participating in at least one event during the term, and spending time in London to integrate into the Institute’s intellectual community.
