ABOUT EAGLE
Full job description
ABOUT EAGLE We’re on a mission to radically transform the way we design and construct our built environment. Backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners, Eagle transforms civil, structural, and MEP engineering firms with applied AI. We’re an AI laboratory dedicated to providing engineers with the tools they need to solve the world’s hardest infrastructure, energy, and climate problems. By arming designers with frontier technology, our ambition is to build the most valuable, talent-dense engineering firm in the United States. THE OPPORTUNITY Our core thesis: 85% of what engineers do today is theoretically automatable, yet less than 5% has actually been touched by AI. That gap is the largest of any profession. Our plan is to close it by building purpose-built tools for their staff, and compounding that proprietary intelligence across customers. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you're the tip of the spear. You'll embed inside the firms we work with—sitting beside structural, civil, and MEP engineers who've often never worked with a software company—find the workflows where technology creates the most leverage, and ship tools that work in weeks, not quarters. You own the outcome, not a ticket. And after winning at the edge, you'll work with the rest of the team to compound what you learned into universal product leverage for Eagle. You get a front-row seat to building a company from zero on a problem domain that's barely been touched by AI. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Embed on-site with engineers at the firms we work with—watch how they work, earn their trust, and find the highest-leverage problems to solve
- Own outcomes end-to-end: discovery, build, deployment, debugging in prod, and iterating live with the people using it
- Ship fast and bespoke when the deployment demands it—then feed every lesson back into a platform that compounds across firms
- Do whatever the deployment needs: wire up integrations to legacy Windows-native AEC software, write the scraper, or stand up an off-the-shelf tool to test an idea before you build the real thing
- Collaborate directly with the CTO on technical direction, engineering culture, and what we build next WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Has a deep curiosity for how things work—an organization, a workflow, a market
- Isn't afraid to expose their ignorance and is constantly asking why
- Has the poise and communication skills to earn trust with people who've never worked with a tech company before—on their turf, in their language
- Can sit with noisy, conflicting feedback from users and distill it into a clear opinion about what to build
- Low ego, high agency: no task is beneath you if it unblocks the deployment
- Is willing to get on a plane with us
- Has experience or interest in LLMs, agent frameworks, RAG, browser automation, or doc parsing TECHNOLOGY
- Frontend: NextJS on Vercel, Tailwind CSS
- Backend: Kotlin for web services, Python for data
- Infra: Multitenant shared infra on AWS via Pulumi COMPENSATION
- Competitive cash compensation ($150K–$300K depending on experience)
- Founding equity, scaled to scope
- Full healthcare benefits
- In-person office in NYC
