This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Freelance Videographers based in United States. This freelance opportunity is designed for skilled videographers who want to contribute to impactful journalism and storytelling projects. You’ll join a nationwide network supporting shoots across a wide range of locations and assignments. Projects focus on worker power, labor, economic justice, and issues affecting communities across the United States. You’ll be responsible for capturing high-quality footage that meets established technical and visual standards. The role offers flexible, project-based work with shoots occurring regularly throughout the country. It is well suited to independent videographers who bring strong technical skills, reliable equipment, and a passion for meaningful stories.
Film assigned video projects across the United States, supporting news, educational, and documentary-style productions. Capture high-quality footage according to established technical specifications, including resolution, frame rate, and LOG recording requirements. Set up and operate professional camera, lighting, and wireless audio equipment to ensure production-ready footage. Collaborate professionally with producers, subjects, and other members of the production team during shoots. Adapt to different locations, subjects, production environments, and scheduling requirements. Deliver footage that meets the expected technical and creative standards for post-production. Maintain reliable communication regarding availability, shoot logistics, locations, and production requirements. Requirements Demonstrated professional videography experience, supported by a portfolio or video reel. Access to a high-quality camera capable of recording in both 1080p and 4K . Ability to shoot at 24fps and work with LOG recording formats. Professional wireless lavalier microphones and appropriate lighting equipment. Strong understanding of camera operation, lighting, framing, composition, and production sound. Ability to work independently and reliably on freelance assignments. Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills. Comfortable traveling locally or regionally for production assignments when needed. Interest in worker power, labor, economic justice, journalism, or community-focused storytelling is highly valued. Videographers from diverse backgrounds and locations across the United States are encouraged to apply. Benefits Freelance, project-based opportunities with shoots taking place across the United States. Regular production opportunities, with shoots occurring nearly every week in various locations. $600–$800 generally offered for half-day shoots of 5 hours or less. $1,000–$1,500 generally offered for full-day shoots of 5.5 to 10 hours. Mileage reimbursement for shoots more than 50 miles away, based on the applicable IRS mileage rate. $16 per diem for full-day shoots. Opportunity to build experience in news, educational, documentary, and social-impact video production. Flexible freelance engagement based on available assignments in your area.
