FRQ's 2027–28 B2 doctoral research scholarships provide C$25,000 per year for up to 12 funded sessions, with a maximum base award of C$100,000.

The B2 program supports candidates undertaking or continuing a research doctorate across the FRQ Nature and Technologies, Health, and Society and Culture sectors. The regular component supports ongoing doctoral training; a re-entering research component supports eligible candidates returning to research. A competitive supplement of up to C$1,500 per year can be available to selected eligible candidates training outside Quebec.
Eligibility requirements
For research-doctorate candidates in FRQ-covered fields. Canadian citizens/permanent residents with valid Quebec health-insurance documentation may use the award under the program's mobility rules. Candidates who do not meet those citizenship/RAMQ conditions can remain eligible if they provide Quebec university admission or supervisor consent, but must complete their training in Quebec and cannot use the award for an out-of-Quebec cotutelle. Regular-component candidates generally must have no more than 14 full-time doctoral sessions before 1 May 2027, with specified exceptions and direct/accelerated-entry rules.
