The programme is open across academic fields to researchers who are affiliated or not affiliated with a Norwegian university or research institution. The supported U.S. stay lasts three to twelve months and must begin no earlier than 1 August 2027 and no later than 31 May 2028. Applicants need an invitation from a U.S. host institution. The grant is personal and is not awarded on the basis of financial need.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be Norwegian citizens and cannot be dual U.S.-Norwegian citizens. They should hold a PhD before departure or demonstrate equivalent academic experience, have sufficient English proficiency and arrange a research or teaching affiliation with a U.S. host.
