Overview
The 2027–2028 Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers two 10-month Open Study/Research awards in Paraguay for independent research across appropriate disciplines, with preference for several STEM, agriculture, environmental, public-sector and social-science fields.

The Paraguay award supports independent study or research for 10 months, normally beginning in February. Candidates should establish contact with a local host before application; proposals demonstrating local contacts or institutional support are preferred. Graduate degree enrollment is not available under this award.
Eligibility requirements
U.S. citizens may apply under the Fulbright U.S. Student Program rules. Applicants must meet the applicable degree-status requirements; non-enrolled applicants must hold a bachelor's degree by the award start date and may not hold a PhD. The Paraguay profile accepts bachelor's, master's and doctoral-level applicants and requires a Spanish Foreign Language Evaluation; Guarani evaluation is required when relevant to the proposed research.
