One six-to-nine-month Fulbright Open Study/Research award supports independent research in Mauritius during the 2027–2028 cycle.

Grants may begin between August 2027 and January 2028. Projects that support Mauritius or strengthen Mauritian-U.S. relations are encouraged, including work in humanities, education, marine science, agriculture, business, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and financial technology.
Eligibility requirements
U.S. citizens eligible for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program at bachelor's, master's or doctoral level. PhD dissertation and master's candidates are preferred, though strong bachelor's-level projects are considered. Residency in Mauritius during the prior 12 months is not permitted; dual U.S.-Mauritian citizens are eligible. Applicants are responsible for securing an appropriate host affiliation and an affiliation letter is strongly recommended.
