The official Namibia award is open for the 2027–2028 competition. Grant length is 6–9 months with a flexible start; the program encourages a late-January 2028 start because many Namibian institutions slow or close in November and December. A host affiliation is the applicant’s responsibility and an affiliation letter is strongly recommended but not required at the application deadline.
Eligibility requirements
Eligible U.S. Fulbright Student applicants may apply at bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral level. Residency in Namibia during the year before the grant is permitted, dual U.S.-Namibian citizens are eligible, and English is sufficient unless an indigenous language is needed for the proposed project. Graduate-degree enrollment in Namibia is not supported under this award.
