Full job description

At Kpler, we are dedicated to helping our clients navigate complex markets with ease. By simplifying global trade information and providing valuable insights, we empower organisations to make informed decisions in commodities, energy, and maritime sectors.

Since our founding in 2014, we have focused on delivering top-tier intelligence through user-friendly platforms. Our team of over 850 experts from 69 countries works tirelessly to transform intricate data into actionable strategies, ensuring our clients stay ahead in a dynamic market landscape. Join us to leverage cutting-edge innovation for impactful results and experience unparalleled support on your journey to success.

About the Role As a Fullstack Engineer on our Web Experience team, you will help build and evolve the frontend platform powering Kpler’s flagship products: MarineTraffic and Kpler Terminal. Working within a distributed, collaborative crew of experienced engineers, you will bridge frontend excellence with robust backend services, ensuring a unified and performant user experience for millions of global users. You will own features end-to-end, work on micro-frontend systems, and empower around 20 feature teams across the business.

Deliver end-to-end features: Build and scale client-facing, cross-domain capabilities—such as interactive maps, unified search, and custom user dashboards—from backend microservices to frontend UI . Unify component architecture: Accelerate the migration of core applications onto Atlas, Kpler’s shared Tailwind-based design system built in Vue 3 and React . Develop Node.js backend services: Design and maintain microservices and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) layers that compose domain data owned by adjacent engineering teams . Enhance developer experience: Rotate regularly into developer tooling, monorepo automation, CI pipeline optimizations, and internal support to assist feature teams building on the platform . Leverage AI-assisted workflows: Integrate AI tools like Cursor or Claude Code into daily development, identifying opportunities to boost efficiency while maintaining architectural quality . Promote architectural excellence: Participate in code reviews, technical pair programming, and architectural discussions grounded in Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and hexagonal architecture .

What you'll need (Must-haves) Web development experience: 2–5 years of professional engineering experience building modern web applications with solid TypeScript and at least Vue or React . Shared code ownership: Proven experience building or maintaining shared tools, component libraries, or internal frameworks that other developers rely on . End-to-end mindset: Eagerness to take full ownership of feature lifecycles, including developing Node.js backend/BFF services when needed . AI-assisted engineering: Hands-on experience incorporating AI development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) into your workflow with a pragmatic view of their capabilities . Collaborative approach: A pragmatic mindset that values shipping value early, receiving feedback, and iterating over polishing in isolation . Nice-to-haves Modern data & mapping tech: Experience with Mapbox, GraphQL, Kafka, PostgreSQL, or Elasticsearch . Backend languages: Familiarity or working experience with Python or Scala . Platform & architecture patterns: Exposure to hexagonal architecture, micro-frontends, event-driven systems, or monorepos .
