The call opens 17 September 2026 and closes 16 November 2026 at 17:00 Belgian time. Fellowships run for three years, starting 1 October or 1 November 2027. FWO lists a gross monthly salary of €5,616.81 (index 2.1647 on 1 March 2026) and a bench fee of €4,000–€10,000 per year.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must hold a PhD (or recognized equivalent) obtained no longer than three years before 1 October of the fellowship start year, or obtain it by 15 September of that year. A supervisor at an eligible Flemish host institution and a mandatory supervisor recommendation letter are required. FWO limits repeat applications under the 2027 rules.
