Newark Academy is seeking a head coach for our girls' varsity volleyball team for the 2026-2027 school year.
Position Description:
Newark Academy is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates must possess a proven track record of respectful leadership and strong communication skills with assistant coaches, players and families. Candidates must be committed to building a positive, inclusive culture within the team. Candidates should be driven, energetic, organized and motivated.
Responsibilities include:

coaching the team primarily during the fall season (mid August - early November, as well as pre-season preparations)

helping players grow as student-athletes by teaching sport-specific skills and ensuring all players model good sportsmanship

managing assistant and JV coaches within the volleyball program

distributing and collecting all equipment and uniforms

communicating with players and parents clearly and effectively

partnering with the Athletic Department to create the team’s schedule and manage the budget of the upper school programs

working with the Sports Information Director to share information about the program with the broader Newark Academy community
Qualifications:

Experience at the high school and/or college level is desired with an emphasis on building a successful program

Ability to teach volleyball skills and concepts at both a fundamental and high level with excitement and positivity

Strong organizational skills in construction, execution and management of all off-season, pre-season and in-season Newark Academy volleyball programming

Ability to teach, promote, and lead by example values of discipline, respect, integrity, good sportsmanship and fair play
