GIS Analyst – Remote Sensing and Site Investigation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a GIS Analyst – Remote Sensing and Site Investigation based in Canada. As a GIS Analyst, you will support remote sensing and site investigation activities for major infrastructure projects, with a focus on turning geospatial data into actionable technical insights. You will work with LiDAR data, point clouds, drone imagery, terrain models, and other remote sensing products to evaluate site conditions and data quality. Your expertise will help establish robust analysis methods, acceptance criteria, and quality controls for geospatial deliverables. Working closely with GIS, engineering, design, environmental, field, and data-processing teams, you will identify discrepancies and provide clear technical recommendations. You will also create 2D and 3D geospatial products that contribute directly to project planning and technical decisions. The role offers an opportunity to apply advanced spatial analysis skills in a multidisciplinary environment while contributing to complex infrastructure and site investigation initiatives. Bilingual French and English capabilities are particularly valuable for collaboration across Quebec and Canada.

Define, document, and maintain analysis methodologies, acceptance criteria, and quality control procedures for LiDAR, point clouds, drone imagery, and other remote sensing products. Interpret LiDAR data and imagery to assess terrain, drainage, vegetation, physical constraints, and other relevant site characteristics. Perform advanced terrain analyses using digital elevation models, slopes, profiles, contours, and other derived geospatial products. Evaluate data coverage, resolution, accuracy, classification, spatial referencing, and overall fitness for project requirements. Compare remote sensing information with survey data, design information, and other available datasets to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies. Develop technical recommendations and communicate findings, limitations, assumptions, and risks clearly to engineering, design, environmental, and other project teams. Produce maps, 2D and 3D analyses, and other geospatial deliverables supporting site investigations and technical decision-making. Coordinate technical activities with field specialists, processing teams, and external data suppliers while verifying that deliverables meet established requirements. Maintain clear and verifiable documentation covering methodologies, assumptions, quality controls, results, and technical decisions. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in geomatics, geography, remote sensing, earth sciences, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline. At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of 2 years working with LiDAR data, point clouds, drone imagery, terrain analysis, or other remote sensing technologies. Demonstrated experience interpreting remote sensing data and assessing site conditions for infrastructure, engineering, environmental, or comparable projects. Strong proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, including 3D tools, LAS datasets, raster and mosaic datasets, elevation models, and spatial analysis capabilities. Good understanding of coordinate systems, spatial accuracy, resolution, point classification, and geospatial data quality control principles. Ability to establish analytical methods and acceptance criteria, investigate discrepancies across data sources, and formulate technically sound recommendations. Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise or ArcGIS Online, including the preparation of 3D, raster, or imagery services, is an asset. Familiarity with specialized point-cloud processing or photogrammetry software, FME, Python, and/or ModelBuilder is an asset. Strong analytical, spatial interpretation, technical troubleshooting, and complex problem-solving abilities. Professional judgment, rigor, and strong attention to detail when assessing data quality and fitness for use. Ability to work independently, organize multiple priorities, and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary project teams. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings and explain data limitations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in French or English is required; bilingual French and English proficiency is a significant asset due to collaboration with teams in Quebec and across Canada. Knowledge of English is required because the role involves collaboration with Canadian or global leadership team members located outside Quebec.
