Global Health Emerging Scholars Fellowship 2027-2028

The fellowship year runs from July 2027 through June 2028 and is delivered by a consortium involving Yale University, Stanford University, the University of Arizona and the University of California, Berkeley. Training is available through research partnerships in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Nigeria, Peru, Samoa, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda. U.S. trainees normally spend 10 to 12 months at an LMIC site. LMIC fellows spend most of the year at their affiliated site and complete a one-to-three-month training experience at the primary U.S. mentor's university. All fellows attend a mandatory NIH orientation in Bethesda.

U.S. predoctoral applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled in an eligible doctoral or health-professional programme and have passed required qualifying examinations. U.S. postdoctoral applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with an eligible doctoral or professional degree, normally within five years of degree or clinical-training completion. LMIC postdoctoral applicants must be citizens or residents of a participating country, hold an eligible doctoral or health-professional degree, generally be within five years of completion and be affiliated with a participating research institution or mentor network. Every applicant needs a primary GHES U.S. mentor and a primary mentor at a participating LMIC site.
