Full Job Description

Are you passionate about rare endocrine diseases and advancing medical innovation? Do you have experience within Medical Affairs and enjoy translating science into meaningful impact for patients and healthcare professionals?

If so, now is your chance to join Ascendis Pharma as our new Global Medical Scientist.

Ascendis Pharma is a global biopharmaceutical company committed to making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives. Guided by our core values of Patients, Science, and Passion, we are applying our innovative TransCon® technology platform to fulfill our mission of developing new therapies that demonstrate best-in-class potential to address unmet medical needs.

At our headquarters in Hellerup, Denmark, research facilities in Heidelberg, Germany, and additional offices across Europe and the United States, we are advancing programs in our Endocrinology Rare Disease portfolio. We also collaborate with partners on the development of TransCon-based products in other therapeutic areas and markets.

We are seeking a passionate Global Medical Scientist to join our Global Medical Affairs organization. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert within rare endocrinology and support the development and execution of global medical strategies across Ascendis Pharma’s growing portfolio. You will work closely with colleagues across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, and local affiliate teams to ensure alignment and successful implementation of global initiatives.

You will be joining the Global Medical Office and report directly to the Senior Global Director, Global Medical Office. The position is based at our headquarters in Hellerup, Denmark.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Support the development and execution of global medical strategies, medical narratives, and strategic imperatives across the Ascendis Pharma portfolio.
  • Generate and communicate medical insights related to disease areas, treatment landscapes, competitive developments, and unmet patient needs.
  • Support global medical education initiatives, congress activities, advisory boards, and engagement with key external stakeholders, including KOLs, patient advocacy groups, and medical societies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support evidence generation activities, including real-world evidence, observational studies, and Phase IV programs.
  • Partner closely with local medical teams to ensure alignment and execution of global medical strategies and tactics.

Qualifications and Skills

You hold an advanced scientific degree such as MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent, and have at least 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, preferably in Medical Affairs.

Furthermore, you have:

  • Strong experience interpreting, communicating, and applying clinical data in a scientific and strategic context.
  • Experience working within endocrinology, rare diseases, or other specialized therapeutic areas.
  • Solid understanding of Medical Affairs, drug development processes, and global pharmaceutical compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to build trusted partnerships and work effectively in a complex global matrix organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage both internal and external stakeholders.

Key competencies

You are a strong team player, analytical, and have a can-do attitude.

You possess an entrepreneurial mindset and thrive in an informal, open environment where innovation and change are key.

To succeed in this role, we also expect you to be scientifically curious, collaborative, and able to translate complex medical information into actionable insights. You are proactive, relationship-oriented, and comfortable navigating a dynamic international environment.

Travel: Approximately 20% international travel.

Office: Copenhagen, Denmark or the US, Princeton
