Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is recruiting a paid Freshwater summer student for a placement from November 2026 to approximately February 2027.

The placement supports freshwater, wetland and habitat assessment projects, including fish-passage barrier mapping, inanga spawning habitat work, saltwater-wedge surveys, field-truthing land-use capability assessments, wetland-loss review and environmental data collection and analysis.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must have completed or be studying toward a relevant formal qualification, be confident working around waterways and fieldwork, hold a valid driver's licence and have current New Zealand work rights. The intern must be based in Hawke's Bay for the summer.
