Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of Content based in Canada. This is a high-ownership leadership role responsible for shaping content, public relations, and thought leadership from strategy through execution. You will define the voice, editorial direction, and content engine across digital channels while creating compelling stories from proprietary market data. The role is highly hands-on, combining exceptional writing and storytelling with AI-powered workflows that enable efficient, scalable content production. You will turn complex data and insights into trusted content for customers, industry professionals, media, and broader audiences. You will also strengthen visibility across search engines and AI-generated answers through strong SEO and discoverability practices. Working directly with senior leadership in a lean, fast-moving environment, you will have significant autonomy to build the function and influence how content and PR evolve as the business expands.
Own and execute the overall content and PR strategy, establishing a consistent, credible voice across the website, app, social channels, media, and other relevant platforms. Develop and maintain the editorial calendar, ensuring content priorities align with business objectives, audience needs, and market opportunities. Personally create and publish high-quality content, including data-driven market reports, articles, newsletters, white papers, short-form video, and other editorial formats. Transform proprietary market and consumer data into compelling stories, insights, and narratives that audiences can understand and trust. Build AI-powered workflows for research, drafting, editing, repurposing, distribution, and content operations, using automation and lightweight tools to increase efficiency and scale. Establish practical AI-first standards and workflows that improve content quality while maintaining accuracy, originality, and a strong human voice. Lead PR and thought leadership initiatives, turning market insights into media pitches, expert commentary, newsworthy stories, and opportunities for earned coverage. Build relationships with journalists and relevant media outlets, particularly across the Canadian market. Apply SEO best practices to improve organic visibility and ensure content can be effectively discovered and cited by search engines and AI assistants. Monitor content performance and communicate results through clear metrics covering engagement, reach, visibility, and brand impact. Continuously test content strategies, identify what works, eliminate low-performing approaches, and use data to inform future decisions. Develop the Content and PR function as the organization grows, including managing contractors, agencies, and external partners where appropriate. Work closely with senior leadership to translate business priorities, market developments, and proprietary data into high-impact content opportunities. Requirements: 5+ years of experience in content strategy, content creation, content leadership, and management, with meaningful hands-on PR experience. A strong track record as a hands-on content leader who can both develop strategy and personally write, edit, publish, and produce content. Demonstrated experience using AI as an integral part of content operations, ideally including the creation of AI workflows, custom GPTs or agents, automated research systems, media-monitoring pipelines, or similar tools. Strong judgment when working with AI, including the ability to fact-check information, validate numbers, protect accuracy, and recognize when human expertise and editorial judgment are essential. Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and communication skills, supported by a strong portfolio across multiple content formats. Strong data literacy and the ability to translate market statistics and complex information into accurate, engaging, and accessible stories. Proven SEO expertise, including experience improving content visibility in search and an understanding of how content is surfaced in AI-generated answers. Demonstrated PR experience, including successfully pitching journalists and securing media coverage; experience with data-driven stories is particularly valuable. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to use performance data to make informed content and editorial decisions. Excellent written and spoken English. Eligibility to work in Canada without sponsorship and availability to work remotely from anywhere in Canada. Experience in real estate, housing, fintech, personal finance, or other consumer-focused data content is an advantage. Hands-on experience with no-code or AI-assisted coding tools for building dashboards, automations, content tools, or other internal workflows is preferred. Experience building a content or PR function from the ground up within a fast-growing organization is a plus. Established relationships with Canadian media outlets or journalists are an advantage. Benefits: Competitive compensation package. Generous paid time off. Fully remote, Canada-wide position with a flexible approach to working. Full health coverage, including medical, dental, life insurance, virtual care, and travel coverage. High level of ownership and autonomy within a lean, founder-led, AI-native environment. Direct collaboration with senior leadership and significant influence over the organization's content and PR direction. Opportunity to build and scale a Content and PR function from the ground up. Exposure to innovative AI workflows and tools that are reshaping how content is researched, created, distributed, and measured. Strong opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth.
