eu-LISA is recruiting a Head of Legal Unit at AD10 level in Tallinn to lead the EU agency's legal function under a five-year renewable temporary-staff contract.

Full job description

The role leads and develops the Legal Unit, manages legal risk and governance, advises senior management, interprets the Agency's legal and operational framework, provides advice on procurement, staff and administrative matters and Justice and Home Affairs information systems, oversees EU-law compliance including emerging frameworks such as the AI Act, represents the Agency in proceedings, and drives improvement and digitalisation of legal services.

Requirements & qualifications

Applicants must be nationals of an EU Member State or Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland and meet the stated citizenship, fitness and military-service conditions. They need qualifying university studies (four years, or at least three years plus one year of appropriate professional experience), at least 12 years of relevant full-time professional experience after the qualifying degree, C1 knowledge of one EU official language and B2 in another. The selection criteria include at least two years of relevant post-graduate management experience, extensive related legal experience, a university degree in law and strong English drafting and communication skills.
