Health and Safety Manager - Telecom Projects

JOB PURPOSE:

To lead the HSE department for the completion of all projects under the health and safety requirements.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To lead the HSE team and ensure compliance of all company policies and procedures with HSE standards.
• To liaise with PMs and ensure that all new projects undertaken within the organization have considered the EHS impact and obtained all required authorizations/permits to keep project completion on time.
• To liaise the technical and Operations Department in their dealings with Clients in all issues concerned with Health and Safety at work.
• To manage the site training plans by conducting employee orientation; emergency response training; and coordination of modular and training programs of the operation
• To ensure all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements are completed.
• Review accident and incident which occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting and managing the corrective actions. Prepare learning points from incidents and ensure these are circulated to all relevant parties.
• To manage the subcontractors and ensure that the subcontractor effectively implement their HSEMS management system including best practices.
• To ensure timely preparation of Health and Safety documentation for new projects, clients and vendors.
• To manage team based risk assessment and the process and regularly conduct training needs analysis.
• Accountable for researching and writing permit applications and work with environmental group and be complaint and completing permit reporting requirements.
• Ensure safe work techniques are re-enforce the safety policies and guidelines, procedures and set out by the company.
• Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee/supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.
• Responsible for guiding in the identification of possible losses, evaluating the risk in such loss exposure, developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
• Maintain and update as needed SOPs for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in a day to day training.
• Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies are minimized and corrected.
• Reporting to PMs/CEO on deficiencies and monthly safety inspection of sites.
• Responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and its application and helps support the compliance process.
• Any relevant assignment by the CEO.

OBJECTIVES:

Collating, reporting and investigating accidents in timely manner and prepare learning points from incidents and ensure these are circulated to all relevant parties

To ensure 100%, all the departments/projects have an effective and appropriate health and safety management system in place, practiced and proper documentation is maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Certifications: NEBOSH/IOSH/OSHA (mandatory).

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in health and safety management, preferably within the telecom industry.

• Skills:

• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and industry best practices.

• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

• Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
