POSITION OVERVIEW The High School Program Leader in academics is responsible for supporting the student’s academic needs through one-on-one tutoring, group tutoring, and academic advising. This role will provide you with valuable professional development and personal growth opportunities as you will have the chance to work with different grade bands (9th-12th). This role is for those who are available to work 5 days a week during the school year at Redwood City Clubhouse in Redwood City, CA and reports to the High School Leadership Manager. Drawing upon best practices in youth development, you will guide students to build academic and life skills in a meaningful, fun context.   ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Manage various program spaces with approximately 15 students per 1 staff Lead students through guided enrichment, leadership development, and community-building activities Support the planning and implementation of High School Leadership programs, including Youth of the Year, Keystone, and Out-of-Club experiences Maintain positive relationships and communication with community partners to support successful Out-of-Club experiences Support program logistics, including student outreach, attendance tracking, materials preparation, field trips, special events, and other program needs Build positive relationships with students and encourage consistent participation and engagement Communicate with parents/guardians, school staff, community partners, and BGCP leadership as needed Maintain a positive, safe, and productive program environment Maintain regular Saturday availability to support leadership programming,Out-of-Club experiences, field trips, and special events Transport teen members safely to and from BGCP activities, events, and approved program-related locations, following all BGCP transportation, safety, and supervision policies. Participate in supporting special events and field trips Attend training and professional development opportunities Perform additional relevant duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Commitment to BGCP’s mission and vision and working with 9th - 12th grade youth Familiarity working with students who attend Title 1 schools  Experience building relationships with diverse youth communities and constituents  Ability to motivate through positive reinforcement  Strong communication skills  Flexible in navigating a fast-paced environment  Preferred one year of experience working with 9th - 12th grade youth  Spanish fluency is a plus Must have a valid driver's license and be able to safely drive students locally as needed PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; and some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, and/or crawling. The role also requires significant fine finger dexterity and near vision acuity. The position may occasionally involve lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds. Generally, the job requires approximately 20% sitting and 80% walking or standing. The work environment noise level is typically moderate but may occasionally be louder. All requirements are subject to reasonable accommodations. LOCATION Redwood City Clubhouse - Redwood City, CA WORK SCHEDULE Academic Calendar Schedule for 2026 - 2027 Tuesday through Friday 2:00pm - 7:00pm (25-29 hours/week) with occasional Saturdays (9/5, 9/12, 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/17, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21) COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Employment Status: Part Time-Non Exempt Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE) Retirement Benefits: BGCP offers salary contributions to the 401(k) plan Sick Time: Part-time employees accrue sick time at a rate of 1 hour for every 20 hours worked, and may use up to 40 hours per year Contributing to a thriving community for youth growth: Beyond measure As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis (TB) evaluation or  test.
