1. Instruments Technician

Job Title: Instruments Technician Job Location: Hwange, Zimbabwe Closing Date: 05 October 2026 Work Format: Full Time

Hwange Colliery Company Limited Holdings is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Instruments Technician to join the Coke Works and Gas Plant Section.

Key Performance Areas

• Carrying out duties in accordance with applicable SHEQ Procedures and Working Instructions.

• Carrying out maintenance, installation, fault-finding and repairs on instrumentation, PLC, HMI and SCADA systems.

• Performing calibration of associated field instruments.

• Installing, calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting pressure, temperature, flow, level and gas-analysis instrumentation.

• Inspecting and troubleshooting equipment and repairing or replacing defective parts to minimize downtime.

• Troubleshooting, maintaining and diagnosing PLC-based control systems, including PLC I/O modules, field signals, communication networks and associated control circuits.

• Using scientific and analytic computer software to diagnose faults, equipment and applications.

• Reading and interpreting P&IDs, instrumentation loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, control schematics, instrument datasheets and equipment manuals.

• Ensuring that the quality of work carried out is of a high standard with no re-work.

• Completing job cards at the end of each task.

• Assisting in training junior technicians, apprentices and attaches.

• Suggesting process improvements based on instrumentation data.

• Working closely with electrical, mechanical and process teams to ensure instrumentation systems are aligned with plant operations.

Qualifications And Experience

Candidates should have:

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Critical analytical skills.

• Experience with complex mechanical, pneumatic and computerised systems and control.

• A high degree of adaptability and flexibility.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

• Physical and mental fitness.

• At least three years’ experience.

• At least a Class 4 Drivers Licence.

• Knowledge of medical instrumentation.

• Knowledge of PLC S7 300, S7 1200 and S7 1500.

• Knowledge of weighing, analytic and control equipment.

Educational And Professional Qualifications

• 5 O’ Levels including Maths, English and Science at Grade C or better.
• Four years Apprenticeship training.
• National Diploma in Instrumentation and Control.
• Class 1 trade tested technician.

2. By Products Technical Foreperson

Job Title: By-Products Technical Foreperson Job Location: Hwange, Zimbabwe Closing Date: 05 October 2026 Work Format: Full Time

Hwange Colliery Company Limited Holdings is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced By-Products Technical Foreperson for the Coke Works and Gas Plant Section.

Key Performance Areas

• Facilitating effective resource allocation.

• Ensuring a comprehensive understanding of production goals and technical requirements within the team.

• Upholding and enforcing technical standards and procedures in operations.

• Conducting periodic work reviews to guarantee compliance with production specifications and quality.

• Collaborating with diverse departments to ensure production goals are achieved.

• Preparing and presenting daily reports on production performance.

• Producing monthly reports on plant availability, utilization and major breakdowns.

3. Plant Metallurgist

Job Title: Plant Metallurgist Job Location: Hwange, Zimbabwe Closing Date: 05 October 2026 Work Format: Full Time

Hwange Colliery Company Limited Holdings is seeking a suitably qualified Plant Metallurgist for the Hwange Mining and Processing Company Coke Works and Gas Plant Section.

Key Performance Areas

• Providing technical support to the coke oven battery and by-products plants.

• Monitoring coal quality from various mines and recommending optimum blending ratios to ensure production of coke quality that meets customer specifications.

• Conducting metallurgical accounting.

• Leading investigations into process upsets, production losses, quality deviations and equipment performance issues.

• Developing and maintaining process control strategies that enhance plant stability and performance.

• Compiling and maintaining month-end and year-end sectional reports on plant throughput, efficiencies, utilization, availability and operational unit costs.

• Leading plant improvement projects.

• Collating sectional budget information and liaising with coking coal preparation sections.

• Carrying out safety, health and environmental inspections.

• Ensuring adherence to SHEQ standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.

• Leading, managing and providing guidance in training operations teams to ensure efficient and effective operations.
