IGAD is seeking an individual consultant in Djibouti to design the data-governance and data-sharing foundations for a regional Soil Information System supporting member-state soil and fertilizer data exchange.
Full job description
The assignment will assess existing national soil information systems, databases, standards and institutional arrangements, then develop a regional data-governance framework and mechanisms for sharing soil and fertilizer data. The expected consultancy period is 120 calendar days from contract commencement under the Food Systems Resilience Program for Eastern and Southern Africa.
Requirements & qualifications
Applicants should hold a master's degree or higher in a relevant field such as soil science, agronomy, agricultural information systems, GIS/remote sensing, data science, information systems, computer science, environmental science or land management. IGAD asks for at least seven years of relevant professional experience, including soil or environmental information systems, geospatial/agricultural data, governance and interoperability, stakeholder/institutional assessment, and multi-organization or multi-country data exchange.
