IGAD is seeking an individual consultant to compile a regional baseline on soil and fertiliser policies, fertiliser use, soil-health initiatives and good practices across participating IGAD member states.
Full job description
The study will assess policy, institutional, financial and technical gaps affecting fertiliser access and sustainable soil management; map soil-health initiatives, laboratories, testing services and information systems; document practices and innovations; and propose directions for regional collaboration, policy harmonisation and investment. IGAD states an expected contract period of six calendar months.
Requirements & qualifications
IGAD asks for at least five years of experience relevant to agriculture, soil science, agronomy, plant nutrition, natural-resource management and communication. Candidates should understand regional policy processes and policy analysis, soil-health and fertiliser-use efficiency practices, integrated soil fertility management, IGAD-region agro-ecology and sustainable land management, and African agricultural policy frameworks including CAADP and the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health Action Plan.
