Overview

IILA is accepting 2027 applications from eligible citizens and residents of its Latin American member countries for 3–6 month postgraduate specialization or research stays in Italy, with €1,500 per month and insurance.

Complete fellowship details

The IILA–MAECI/DGCS 2027 programme supports postgraduate specialization, updating or research/training stays of three to six months at an Italian or international institution based in Italy. Priority subject areas include agri-food and food technology, environmental sustainability and renewable energy, life sciences and biotechnology, space science and technology, and cultural heritage/creative practices. The scholarship provides €1,500 per month as an all-inclusive contribution for accommodation and food plus insurance against illness, accidents and civil liability for the stated travel/stay period. Round-trip travel from the home country to Italy and documentation costs are explicitly the scholar's or home institution's responsibility.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must have both citizenship and residence in an IILA Latin American member country, be no older than 35 under the published rule (women candidates with children receive the stated age extension of one year per child, up to three years), hold a university degree directly related to the proposed area, and have relevant experience. They must submit a concrete work/research/course pre-project, secure an acceptance letter from an Italian or international institution based in Italy, and be carrying out related work, research or collaboration with a public body, private entity or NGO in Latin America supported by a presentation letter. The stay/course must finish no later than 31 January 2028. Basic Italian is desirable but not listed as mandatory.

Tips for this fellowship

Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.

  1. Secure a suitable Italian host and signed acceptance letter before submitting.
  2. Align the pre-project clearly with one of the call's priority fields and state the weekly workload.
  3. Submit the online form in Spanish, Portuguese or French before 24:00 GMT+2 on 30 September 2026.
  4. Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
  5. Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
  6. Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
  7. Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.

Verification notes

Verified against IILA's official 2027 call and Spanish call PDF. Applications close 30 September 2026 at 24:00 GMT+2, normalized to 22:00 UTC. The official call states a €1,500 monthly all-inclusive contribution for accommodation/food and insurance. It explicitly places round-trip travel and documentation costs on the grantee or home institution, so the record does not call the programme fully funded.
