Industrialization Engineer Intern (Summer 2027)

Our Longueuil facility is the birthplace of BIXI, North America's first automated bikeshare system, and today builds the bikes and stations behind some of the world's largest bikeshare networks. We are looking for an Industrialization Engineer Intern to join our Manufacturing & Quality Engineering team at our Longueuil factory. You will work on the production floor with assembly, warehouse, and quality teams to make our processes faster, safer, and more consistent. You will also be part of a global team that supports factories and suppliers across North America and Asia. Responsibilities: Map current-state material flow and factory/warehouse layout, then propose improvements that reduce waste and operator travel. Run cycle time studies across assembly and warehouse operations to find bottlenecks and improve throughput and line balance. Audit SOP adherence on the floor, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions or SOP updates. Lead 5S audits and implement visual controls and workplace organization standards. Build dashboards that track throughput, WIP, cycle time, and SOP compliance, and turn the data into recommendations. Create visual work instructions, standard work sheets, and layout drawings to support operator training. Support continuous improvement projects, including ergonomic assessments, workstation redesign, and tooling and fixture improvements. Prepare processes for engineering changes (ECOs) and new product introductions, including layout changes and workstation validation. Partner with Quality to investigate production defects and contribute to root cause analysis and PFMEA updates. Experience: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, at a Canadian university, graduating between December 2027 and summer 2028 (required) . Master's students who worked between degrees should have less than 2 years of full-time experience. Professional proficiency in French and English , written and spoken (required) Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (JIT, standard work, 5S, value stream mapping) Experience with AutoCAD or a similar CAD tool for layout work Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Comfortable in a fast-moving environment, balancing multiple priorities as needs shift on the floor Previous internship or co-op in manufacturing, operations, or quality is a plus Experience with Mode, Hex, Tableau, or Power BI is a plus, as is SQL or Python Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing tools is a plus Exposure to PLM systems or engineering change processes is a plu Benefits: Mental health benefits In addition to holidays, interns receive 2 days paid time off and 3 days sick time off Subsidized commuter benefits and Lyft ride credits Lyft is committed to creating an inclusive workforce that fosters belonging. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
