Information Technology Specialist

As an Information Technology Specialist, you are proficient with technology, a skilled troubleshooter, and an excellent communicator. You will join the IT team to service a wide variety of technological needs across the company such as physical technical equipment, information systems, networking, and employee technology training and support. Much of your work will be reactive, and you will continue to learn more about technology and adapt to new situations every day. You will also need to connect well with other employees while maintaining a high level of accuracy and expertise in your work.

• Provide personal employee support for all IT hardware and systems

• Purchase, set up, and maintain computers, printers, phones, meeting room equipment, desk equipment, etc.

• Act as an administrator for multiple company-wide systems (email, password management, design tools, phones, etc.)

• Perform IT onboardings and offboardings and other trainings for employees as necessary

• Train and test employees on best technology security practices

• Assist in setting up and maintaining network infrastructure (configuring switches, running wires, setting up access points, maintaining the server rooms, etc.)

• You have a solid understanding of physical technology and systems

• You are familiar with both Mac and Windows operating systems

• You have a strong intuition about the intersection of technology and security

• You are able to balance several tasks at once and daily take on new challenges

• You are organized and have an appreciation for process and procedure

• You exercise good judgement when deciding between acting quickly to fix a problem and being thorough to prevent future issues

• You are adept at understanding people’s needs and communicating at their level of expertise on the subject

• You have exceptional values including honesty, integrity, and empathy

• Background in information systems, computer science, or equivalent experience

• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

$55,000 - $95,000 per year

Full-time employees receive health, dental, vision, life, hospital indemnity, and long-term disability insurance; paid time off; a 401(k) program; and tuition reimbursement.

This is a full-time salaried position located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There may be times when you will be expected to address issues during non-standard working hours.

The Technology Department oversees the entire lifecycle of internal and public software systems and also maintains all technology services and security. The Software team works closely with all areas of the company to create custom system solutions for daily business operations and to ensure Tekton.com delivers a world-class website experience to users. The Information Technology team maintains our internet services, manages technology security, and ensures we have the hardware needed to operate; they are the frontline of support whenever any IT equipment or service isn't working like it should.
