This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Japanese Sports Localization Specialist (Football) based in Italy. Join a localization team focused on making football content accurate, engaging, and culturally relevant for Japanese audiences. In this role, you’ll review, translate, localize, fact-check, and adapt sports content with a strong focus on football. You’ll help ensure content reflects local language, terminology, culture, and audience expectations. The role combines linguistic expertise with deep football knowledge, editorial judgment, and creative writing skills. You’ll research market trends and provide feedback that helps improve the quality and consistency of localized content. You’ll work within established style guides and quality standards while contributing your own subject-matter expertise. Review, translate, localize, fact-check, and adapt sports-related content, primarily focused on football, for Japanese audiences. Ensure localized content follows applicable writing style guides, linguistic guidelines, terminology, and quality standards. Conduct market-specific research into Japanese content trends, terminology, audience preferences, and localization best practices. Assess content for linguistic accuracy, cultural relevance, readability, tone, and consistency. Provide constructive feedback on written content and identify opportunities to improve localization quality. Support quality-control activities across multimedia and other sports-related content formats. Apply strong football subject-matter expertise to ensure terminology, context, and references are accurate and natural for the target audience. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and/or at least 2 years of professional experience in linguistics, translation, localization, sports journalism, copywriting, copy-editing, or a related field. Extensive knowledge of sports, particularly football, including relevant terminology, competitions, players, teams, and fan culture. Experience with translation and localization of multimedia content; experience with machine translation and language evaluation is an advantage. Native-level fluency in Japanese with excellent grammar, writing, proofreading, and editing abilities. Excellent written English skills and the ability to understand source content accurately. Strong creative writing and editorial skills, with the ability to adapt voice and style for different audiences. Practical technology skills, including confidence with computers, mobile devices, word processors, and spreadsheets. Ownership of a licensed version of Microsoft Office applications is required. Published sports-related work for established media platforms or similar outlets is a plus. Experience with sports media platforms, live-score applications, or sports streaming services is beneficial. Familiarity with Gen Z communication, football fan culture, and pop-culture audiences is an advantage. Strong attention to detail, cultural awareness, research skills, and the ability to work independently within quality guidelines. Benefits: Hourly compensation of $25–$31.
