The MinCiencias-managed category recognizes the best Afro-Colombian teacher-researcher in medicine, education, exact/physical/natural sciences, arts or humanities. The official recognition is delivered by Colombia's Ministry of National Education and includes a diploma and medal. Applications may be self-nominations or submitted by a higher-education institution.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must be Afro-Colombian teacher-researchers recognized by MinCiencias as Junior, Associate, Senior or Emeritus researchers, be linked to a higher-education institution, and have distinguished work during 2025 in an eligible field. They must provide Ministry of Interior Afro-Colombian self-recognition certification by the deadline, keep CvLAC fully completed and updated through 13 October 2026, and must not have received the same recognition in the immediately preceding year.
