Position Overview SteerBridge is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to support the Modern Disability Claims program. This is an entry-level opportunity for someone early in their data engineering career to learn our claims data systems, contribute to pipeline development under the guidance of senior engineers, and build technical depth supporting a mission-critical VA program. Responsibilities Write clean, well-documented code to support data pipeline development and maintenance Assist with exploratory data preparation and cleansing of claims and healthcare data sources Support senior engineers in identifying and fixing bugs in existing ETL/ELT pipelines Learn and apply standard debugging and troubleshooting processes for data pipeline issues Perform basic data quality checks under the guidance of senior team members Document data workflows and processes as directed Participate in code reviews to build familiarity with team standards and practices Learn the team's domain, codebase, schemas, and MDC data systems Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required Must hold, or be able to obtain, a Public Trust clearance (an active Secret or Top Secret clearance also satisfies this requirement) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience) 0-3 years of experience in data engineering, software development, or a related field Familiarity with Python and SQL Willingness to learn ETL/ELT concepts and cloud-based data platforms Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn Ability to work collaboratively and receive feedback/mentorship from senior team members Preferred Qualifications Coursework, internship, or project experience involving data pipelines or data engineering Exposure to Pandas, Git, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Familiarity with healthcare or claims data a plus
