Overview

KAUST’s Global Fellowship Call 2027 is open to early-career researchers of all nationalities for a three-year research fellowship in Saudi Arabia. Stage 1 Concept Notes are accepted from 1 September through 1 October 2026.

Complete fellowship details

The KAUST Global Fellowship supports independent early-career research aligned with KAUST priorities in Water, Food, Health, Energy, Artificial Intelligence and the Red Sea. The current program provides a three-year term, a monthly stipend of US$6,250 (US$75,000 annually), health insurance, housing, schooling/daycare support where applicable, relocation support and annual travel assistance. A separate research allowance of up to US$40,000 per year is available for eligible fellowship research costs. Stage 1 is a Concept Note; applicants who secure Host PI support may be invited to submit a full proposal from 15 November 2026 to 15 January 2027.

Eligibility requirements

People of all nationalities may apply. For Call 2027, applicants must have a PhD awarded within four calendar years (the current page specifies January 2023 or later for this call), or expect to complete the PhD before the Fellowship starts; be ready to move to KAUST for the three-year project; and identify potential KAUST faculty members whose research aligns with the proposal. The proposal must align with KAUST research missions and academic divisions, and nominees must satisfy Saudi residency requirements.

Tips for this fellowship

Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.

  1. Use the current Call 2027 Concept Note template.
  2. Identify KAUST faculty whose research aligns with the proposed project before submitting Stage 1.
  3. Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
  4. Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
  5. Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
  6. Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.

Verification notes

Verified on 1 September 2026 from KAUST’s current How to Apply, Fellowship and FAQ pages. Call 2027 opened 1 September 2026 and Stage 1 closes 1 October 2026; no closing clock time is stated on the official page, so deadline_date is used. Funding amounts and benefits are included only as stated by KAUST.
