Overview
Kazakhstan is offering 250 government scholarships in 2026 for eligible scientists to undertake research internships at approved leading universities and scientific centres abroad.
Complete internship details
The Scientific Internships programme accepts applications from 16 March through 30 October 2026. The 2026 allocation is 250 scholarships. Internships are designed to strengthen the qualifications of Kazakhstan scientists at leading international research centres. Under the programme, the state covers internship/academic costs, round-trip airfare, medical insurance, visa fees and study materials, and provides a monthly stipend under applicable norms. The current government guidance says internships can last up to 12 months at approved leading foreign universities, organizations, research centres, scientific organizations, sector organizations or industry hosts.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must meet the programme's current scientist/professional requirements. Government guidance for internships requires an unconditional invitation from the foreign host excluding financial conditions, at least three years of total work experience including the most recent 12 continuous months in the chosen field, and qualifying state- and foreign-language certificates. The application package also includes employer support, degree documents, medical clearance, work-history evidence, an approved internship programme and a motivation letter.
