Applications are open for the Kitty Carr Research Grant 2026-2027 . The Kitty Carr Grant is awarded to those committed to prevention of maternal mortality in Canada. Open to any area within the field of obstetrics, health systems or policy research, this grant aims to support research projects focused on preventing all possible maternal deaths.
The Canadian Foundation for Women’s Health supports research, education, advocacy and professional development that advance the health of women in Canada and around the world.
Grant
The Kitty Carr Research Grant has a value of up to $20,000.
Eligibility
Applicants must be affiliated with a Canadian university or health care institution able to provide ethics review in compliance with Canadian standards.
The Applicant must be a member in good standing of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, post-graduates are a specific focus.
Only research projects directly related to the area prevention of maternal mortality are considered for funding
Research proposals submitted may be stand alone or, if part of a larger project with funding from other sources, must have clear deliverables that are achievable in a time frame of two years or less.
The Award winner(s) must comply to provide quarterly progress reports to the CFWH.
Application
Documents required include:
A cover letter to the CFWH
A curriculum vitae for the principal investigator
An itemized budget including the amount being requested for the project, on a separate page
A letter of support from the institution
A 250-word description of the proposed research project including your project title.
A Research Proposal of no more than 4 pages (excluding abstract and references) that includes:

Methods
Analysis plan
Implications/Impact of results
Dissemination plan
Timeline
References
Return the duly completed form , along with required documents, to the CFWH National Office no later December 15, 2026 to research@cfwh.org
