Overview
Knight-Hennessy Scholars is accepting applications worldwide for its 2027 cohort alongside applications to eligible full-time Stanford graduate degree programs.
Complete scholarship details
KHS funding can cover up to three years. During the first three years, scholars receive a fellowship applied to tuition and associated fees, a stipend for living and academic expenses, and an annual travel stipend for an economy-class trip to and from Stanford. Newly enrolling scholars also receive a one-time relocation stipend; second- and third-year scholars may apply for supplemental academic-enrichment funds. Funding after three years for longer programs follows the graduate program's standard commitment.
Eligibility requirements
Citizens and residents of all countries may apply. Applicants must apply to, be accepted by and enroll in an eligible full-time Stanford graduate degree program under one of KHS's permitted routes. For the 2027 cohort, the first bachelor's degree must normally have been earned in January 2020 or later; applicants with qualifying military service have the stated two-year extension, and current college students may qualify if the first degree is completed by September 2027.
Tips for this scholarship
Practical Job and Scholarship guidance. These tips do not replace official rules or create new eligibility requirements.
- Check eligibility, funding coverage, study/project level and every required document before investing time in the application.
- Prepare transcripts, references, language tests, proposal/motivation statement and proof documents early.
- Separate the scholarship deadline from any university/program admission deadline; they may be different.
- Treat “fully funded” as a source fact only when the official provider explicitly confirms the covered costs.
Verification notes
Verified against Stanford's current 2027 admission, eligibility, application and funding pages. The KHS deadline is October 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM Pacific Time; on that date Pacific Time is PDT (UTC-7), yielding 20:00 UTC. The KHS application itself has no fee, while the separate Stanford graduate program application may charge a fee.
