This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Landlord-Tenant and Collections Paralegal based in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to support landlord-tenant and collections matters within a large affordable housing portfolio. You’ll serve as a key liaison between ownership, property management teams, and outside legal counsel, helping ensure matters are handled efficiently and accurately. Your work will include tracking active cases, coordinating documentation, monitoring deadlines, and keeping stakeholders informed through clear reporting. You’ll also support eviction proceedings, routine property-related litigation, resident account discussions, and legal compliance activities. The position combines legal administration, case coordination, stakeholder communication, and operational problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work closely with internal legal, property management, and accounting teams while contributing recommendations that improve landlord-tenant processes and outcomes.
Serve as the primary point of contact between ownership, property management teams, and outside counsel regarding landlord-tenant disputes, eviction proceedings, and routine legal matters, including small claims and basic property-related litigation. Coordinate with outside counsel to support the timely and effective resolution of legal matters, ensuring deadlines are met and activities remain aligned with ownership objectives. Maintain accurate records, case files, tracking systems, and reports covering active litigation, administrative proceedings, compliance requirements, and other landlord-tenant matters. Collaborate with property managers and ownership to gather leases, correspondence, rent histories, account information, and other documentation required to initiate and support legal matters. Work with property management and accounting teams to help ensure compliance with court requirements and applicable legal obligations. Assist with drafting routine legal correspondence, notices, internal communications, and memoranda related to landlord-tenant matters. Organize resident meetings to review account balances, delinquency histories, legal case status, lease obligations, and other matters affecting a resident’s ability to meet their tenancy requirements. Review invoices and legal bills from outside landlord-tenant counsel for accuracy and alignment with budgetary guidelines. Monitor changes in landlord-tenant laws and regulations and identify developments that may affect property management or ownership practices. Provide recommendations for process improvements and changes to landlord-tenant and collections administration under the guidance of senior legal and collections leadership. Requirements Bachelor’s degree. 3–5 years of experience as a paralegal or in a similar legal support role within a law firm or in-house legal department. Demonstrated experience with New York landlord-tenant law . Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, particularly when managing case records, documentation, deadlines, and multiple matters simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with legal counsel, property managers, accounting teams, ownership, and residents. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as case management or legal tracking tools. Ability to manage multiple priorities, remain organized, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Working knowledge of laws and regulations related to affordable housing, tenant rent vouchers, and NYCHA compliance is preferred but not required. Strong judgment, professionalism, and ability to handle sensitive landlord-tenant information and communications appropriately. Ability to work collaboratively across legal and operational teams while maintaining accuracy and accountability. Benefits Annual salary range of $60,000–$70,000 USD , with exact compensation based on factors such as skills, experience, and location.
