ABOUT SLASH

Full job description

ABOUT SLASH Slash is building the future of business banking, one industry at a time. We believe businesses deserve financial infrastructure tailored to how they actually operate. That’s why we’re creating a new category of business banking. We combine the reliability of traditional banking—high yields, competitive rewards, and comprehensive security—with industry-specific features that make businesses more efficient, competitive, and profitable. Started in 2021, Slash is one of the fastest-growing fintechs in the world and powers more than three billion dollars a year in business purchasing across numerous industries. We’re backed by leading investors, including Menlo Ventures, NEA, Y Combinator, Stanford University, and the founders of Tinder and Plaid. Slash is headquartered in San Francisco and has a strong in-person culture. We’re growing quickly and are looking for a sharp, experienced, and detail-oriented LATAM & Sanctions Compliance Analyst to join our team. ABOUT THE ROLE As a LATAM & Sanctions Compliance Analyst at Slash, you’ll help assess and manage financial-crime risk involving customers, counterparties, and activity connected to Latin America, with particular emphasis on Venezuela. You’ll conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD), investigate complex cross-border activity, evaluate sanctions exposure, and produce clear, well-supported risk assessments and escalations. You’ll work closely with Compliance, Operations, Product, and other cross-functional partners to ensure Slash meets its regulatory obligations while responsibly serving customers with international activity. This role is ideal for an experienced analyst who understands LATAM banking and can independently evaluate nuanced customer profiles, ownership structures, sources of wealth and funds, transaction patterns, and sanctions-related risks. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Conduct CDD and EDD reviews for customers with ties to Latin America, including Venezuela, and assess geographic, sanctions, corruption, PEP, and cross-border financial-crime risks.
  • Review complex individual and business ownership structures, beneficial owners, related parties, counterparties, and multinational business activity.
  • Assess and corroborate source of funds and source of wealth using customer-provided documentation, public records, adverse media, and other relevant sources.
  • Investigate domestic and international transaction activity, including wires, ACH transfers, and other payment flows, to identify unusual patterns and potential sanctions evasion or money laundering.
  • Conduct sanctions screening and disposition potential matches involving customers, beneficial owners, counterparties, financial institutions, vessels, jurisdictions, and other relevant parties.
  • Evaluate direct and indirect exposure to OFAC programs and restrictions, including Venezuela-related sanctions, blocked persons and entities, the 50 Percent Rule, and applicable sectoral or general-license considerations.
  • Independently investigate potentially suspicious activity and prepare clear, well-supported internal escalations and Unusual Activity Reports (UARs).
  • Support onboarding reviews, periodic refreshes, event-driven reviews, and ongoing monitoring for higher-risk international customers.
  • Maintain thorough case records, decision rationales, supporting evidence, and audit trails in line with internal policies and regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with Compliance and Product teams to improve risk-rating methodologies, screening and monitoring rules, alert quality, procedures, and operational tooling.
  • Stay current on LATAM financial-crime typologies, sanctions developments, enforcement actions, political and economic developments, and regulatory guidance. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • 4+ years of experience in AML, sanctions, EDD, financial-crimes compliance, or risk operations at a bank, fintech, payments company, or similarly regulated financial institution.
  • Hands-on experience reviewing customers or transactions connected to Latin America; direct experience with Venezuela-related risks is strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of BSA/AML requirements, KYC/KYB, CDD/EDD, beneficial ownership, transaction monitoring, adverse-media research, and SAR/UAR processes.
  • Practical knowledge of OFAC sanctions requirements, OFAC general licences, sanctions screening and alert disposition, the 50 Percent Rule, and escalation of complex sanctions questions.
  • Experience assessing international customers, foreign-owned businesses, cross-border transactions, and complex sources of funds or wealth.
  • Ability to analyze nuanced cases independently, identify missing information, document a defensible rationale, and escalate appropriately.
  • Excellent investigative, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • High integrity and sound judgment when handling sensitive customer and financial information.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment where policies, products, and regulatory expectations continue to evolve. NICE TO HAVE
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish, including the ability to review business, banking, corporate, and source-of-funds documentation.
  • Experience at a U.S. bank serving international or LATAM customers, particularly foreign nationals, entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, or multinational companies.
  • Familiarity with Venezuela-specific sanctions, state-owned enterprises, PEP exposure, currency controls, trade-based money laundering, and regional corruption typologies.
  • Experience with sanctions-screening, transaction-monitoring, case-management, or investigative research tools.
  • ACAMS, CGSS, or a comparable compliance certification. WHY JOIN SLASH
  • Be part of a fast-growing fintech building a new category of business banking.
  • Take meaningful ownership of complex, high-impact compliance work.
  • Work closely with compliance leadership and cross-functional partners to improve systems, policies, and risk decisions.
  • Develop deep expertise across international banking, LATAM financial-crime risk, sanctions, and EDD.
  • Remote opportunity. COMPENSATION Estimated base salary: $75,000–$120,000.
