Full job description

We're Scan.com http://Scan.com. We're building America's national imaging network: the infrastructure that connects patients, providers, and payers to faster, better-value diagnostic imaging. Thousands of patients move through our platform every day, and each is a real person waiting for an answer to a healthcare concern. We exist to get them that answer faster. We manage the medical imaging pathway end-to-end. Providers order through a single point of entry, and from there, we run the entire medical diagnostic pathway. Managing the full pathway, rather than brokering pieces of it, is what lets us deliver imaging faster, at higher quality, and at a lower cost than the fragmented status quo. We're looking for a Lead Clinical Operations Specialist at an exciting time. We've raised over $200m in funding to date, reached profitability, and are growing 100% year on year. Millions of people wait too long for a diagnosis. Come help us fix that. WHAT YOU WILL BE GETTING INVOLVED IN As our business grows, so does the need for smoother, more consistent imaging workflows across the specialized case types we support — from image acquisition through final report delivery. The Lead Clinical Operations Specialist serves as a dedicated owner for those workflows: someone who deeply understands the operational nuances of case handling, brings clarity and structure to how the team works, and serves as the go-to expert others can lean on as we grow.

  • Personally handle a meaningful share of the core Lead Clinical Operations Specialist workload — cross-referencing patient, imaging center, and radiologist information against customer data, client updates, and radiology group communication
  • Own the quality bar for the entire team's output, not just your own — build the checks, spot-audits, and feedback loops that catch errors before they reach a client
  • Be the escalation point for imaging center and radiology group issues — the ones that don't get resolved by following the standard playbook
  • Build and maintain the SOPs and training materials that make this scalable
  • Identify where AI and agentic workflows can absorb manual QC and data cross-referencing work.
  • Work with sensitive data in line with HIPAA requirements, and hold your team to the same standard THE TOP 3 THINGS WE WANT YOU TO ACHIEVE IN YOUR FIRST YEAR ARE
  1. Prove you can do the job before you build it — within your first 90 days, be able to competently execute the tasks presented
  2. Build a quality system (not just personal vigilance) so the team hits the accuracy bar on its own output, and can show a downward trend in team-level errors and escalations over the year.
  3. Drive toward making part of this role's manual work obsolete — identify and ship at least one AI-assisted or automated workflow that removes manual cross-referencing or QC work from the team's plate. WHAT YOU MIGHT BRING TO THE TABLE You don't need to tick all the boxes to apply for this role. However, these might be some of the ways you are currently adding value:
  • Experience in healthcare operations, managing sensitive data in a client service function. Clinical knowledge of radiology with direct clinical experience is strongly preferred.
  • A track record of personally doing detail-critical work at a high accuracy bar — you lead by example, not just by oversight
  • Experience building or improving SOPs, training, and quality-control processes for a growing team
  • Comfort using AI tools to remove drudgery from your own and your team's workflow, with sound judgment on where it helps and where it doesn't — especially around sensitive patient data
  • Strong data manipulation — Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs are a baseline, not a differentiator, for this role
  • Direct, low-ego communication — comfortable giving and receiving hard feedback without letting it fester
  • Resilience and a bias for action in ambiguity — this is a scale-up, and the role will evolve under you AI REQUIREMENTS At Scan.com http://Scan.com, AI isn't a side project; it's how we work. For a member of this team, that means using AI daily to draft, check, and move faster. For the person leading this team, the bar is higher: you're expected to see where AI and agentic tooling can restructure the work itself, not just speed up your own tasks. Tier 3 — AI-Building You use AI daily in your own work, and you actively identify and help build automations or agentic workflows that change how your team operates — not just personal productivity gains. You know how to evaluate whether an AI-driven process is safe and reliable enough for sensitive patient data before rolling it out to the team. A VIEW ON OUR CULTURE We're building something that matters. Every scan we speed up is a real person waiting on an answer, and that urgency runs through everything we do. We move fast, we own outcomes, and take pride in our output. If you like ambiguity, working with ambitious people, and want your work to visibly move the needle, you'll feel at home here. For you to be successful at Scan.com http://Scan.com you must embody our values. OUR VALUES Always Play Offense
  • You don't quit on hard problems. Fail fast, dust off, go again.
  • You celebrate wins, then seek the next opportunity.
  • You see it, you fix it. No task is beneath you, at any level. Build with the Best
  • Talent recognizes talent. You actively bring quality hires into the business.
  • You trust your colleagues to deliver.
  • You open-source your knowledge. You're never a single point of failure. Care Deeply, Challenge Directly
  • Strong opinions, weakly held. You welcome challenge and feedback.
  • You get to the point: direct challenge plus an alternative solution.
  • You ask “why”. Before calling something bad, understand why it exists. Embrace Growth, Be Curious
  • You proactively seek feedback, whatever your level.
  • You invest in understanding our business: teams, customers, processes.
  • You invest in your own growth and are willing to unlearn. HOW WE WILL INTERVIEW YOU
  1. Introductory call with our Talent Partner — roughly 30 minutes.
  2. Should it feel like there is an initial fit for all, we will invite you back to a video call with the hiring manager – roughly 45 minutes. This is a more structured interview that will deep-dive into the role and technical needs
  3. ‘Scan Standard’ interview, where our panel screens for values alignment and the success factors that matter at Scan.com http://Scan.com. You will also be assessed on your AI fluency at the stage and depth relevant to your role (see AI requirements above).
  4. Meet the founders and/or other team members. Again, length varies depending on how many people and whether in person or via video call.
  5. Offer! WHAT WE OFFER
  • $75,000 - $90,000 annual salary
  • Flexible remote or hybrid work options
  • Medical, vision, and dental coverage
  • 28+ days of paid time off across PTO and wellbeing days, so you can show up at your best
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401k retirement plan
  • All the equipment you need to do your best work
  • Inclusive, people-first policies designed by our team, for our team DIVERSITY AT SCAN.COM http://Scan.com Scan.com http://Scan.com is committed to eliminating discrimination and encouraging diversity within our team. We strive to provide equality and fairness for all job applicants and employees and never discriminate on the basis of gender, marital status, age, race, ethnicity, religion, or physical differences. Our ambition is for our team to be representative of society's diversity, and for every employee to feel respected and able to bring their best selves to work.
