At Guy Smith Home Services, our Lead HVAC Installers are paid using both an hourly and piece-rate calculation—and receive whichever amount is higher. We’re looking for an experienced Lead HVAC Installer who takes ownership of each project, solves challenges in the field, and sets the workmanship standard for the team. You’ll lead residential installation projects from start to finish, guide apprentices and helpers, and work with our sales, warehouse, service, and operations teams to keep jobs moving smoothly. What You’ll Do Lead residential HVAC replacement and installation projects from start to finish. Install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-splits, thermostats, and indoor air quality equipment. Complete ductwork modifications, refrigerant piping, condensate drainage, venting, gas piping, wiring, and system connections. Direct, train, and support apprentices and installation helpers. Review job details and identify equipment, material, or scope concerns before and during installation. Perform equipment startups, charging, airflow verification, system testing, and commissioning. Troubleshoot installation issues and ensure work meets manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, and company standards. Protect customers’ homes and maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites. Explain system operation, maintenance expectations, and warranty information to homeowners. Complete accurate job documentation, equipment records, and required photos. Coordinate with sales, service, dispatch, warehouse, and leadership teams. Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, equipment, materials, and inventory. What We’re Looking For Previous experience leading residential HVAC replacement and installation projects. Ability to independently complete residential HVAC installations from start to finish. Strong knowledge of air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-splits, ductwork, refrigeration, airflow, venting, and system commissioning. Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and jobsite problem-solving abilities. Ability to train and direct apprentices or installation helpers. Commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and code compliance. Strong communication and customer service skills. EPA Universal Certification required. Applicable Virginia trade licenses or certifications preferred. Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, and field service software. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to perform physical work in attics, basements, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, and outdoor conditions. Why Work at Guy Smith Home Services?
