Full job description

The role combines teaching, postgraduate supervision and research at the intersection of AI, data science, climate and environmental science. It contributes to the Africa Climate Collaborative, a cross-university climate resilience and sustainability programme hosted by ACDI in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. UCT lists 2026 annual cost of employment of R974,126 at Lecturer level and R1,207,358 at Senior Lecturer level.

Requirements & qualifications

Lecturer-level applicants need a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, demonstrated experience applying AI or data science to climate, environmental or related sciences, an appropriate publication record and commitment to socially engaged research. Senior Lecturer applicants additionally need at least two years of post-PhD academic or professional experience, significant university teaching experience, postgraduate supervision experience and evidence of administration contributions.
