It influences the maritime regulatory system both internationally and domestically and leads the end‑to‑end development of the framework — from planning and policy through to implementation.Within this group, Legal Services delivers expert legal advice that supports the Director and Authority and decision makers across Maritime NZ to achieve our outcomes. Legal advice covers areas such as public and international law, litigation, incident response, and commercial and property law.Te tūnga | The role  As Legal Secretary, you'll play a vital role in supporting Maritime New Zealand's Legal Services team. In this role you will be helping to ensure the organisation can effectively deliver its regulatory and legal responsibilities. Working closely with the Chief Legal Advisor, Legal Services Managers and the wider legal team, you'll provide high-quality legal secretarial, administrative and coordination support.This is a varied role where you'll be involved in legal administration, financial processing, diary and meeting coordination, workflow management, travel arrangements, and supporting key legal projects and initiatives.Nōu te rourou | What you bring To be successful in this role you will have: Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant ideally within a legal environment. Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong calendar, meeting and workflow coordination capabilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Experience managing documents, records and business systems. Strong Microsoft Office skills and confidence learning new systems. High levels of integrity, discretion and commitment to confidentiality. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
