Job Title: Clinical or Counselling Psychologist – Palliative Care (Oncology)

Banding: Band 7 / 8a

Location: West Midlands

Working Hours: 3 days per week

Salary: Competitive hourly rate (Band‑aligned)

Locum Clinical or Counselling Psychologist – Palliative Care (Oncology)

This locum opportunity places you at the heart of specialist oncology and palliative care service in the West Midlands. You will join a compassionate multidisciplinary team, offering psychological expertise that truly shapes patient experience - the post is available ASAP until the end of September.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist psychological assessments for individuals referred to the service, tailoring your approach to their unique needs.

  • Provide evidence‑based interventions including ACT, CFT and CBT to support patients, carers and families as they navigate diagnosis, treatment and end‑of‑life challenges.

  • Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues

  • Offer consultation and reflective support to staff managing complex emotional presentations.

  • Maintain high‑quality clinical records in line with professional standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • HCPC registration as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist

  • Desirable: Experience within palliative care, oncology, health psychology, adult mental health or other emotionally complex clinical settings is highly valued

  • Confidence working autonomously and collaboratively within MDT environments

  • Newly qualified psychologists or those without direct oncology experience are still encouraged to apply — transferable skills are welcomed
