You are a business adviser who manages across internal and/or external advocacy and media relations, crisis and issues communications using integrated communications to promote and protect Mondelēz’s International reputation.

How you will contribute

You will drive the communications and government affairs agenda for the area in which you operate for all internal and external communications including media relations, stakeholder and political engagement, and partner with business unit leaders to support internal and external communications and corporate affairs. In addition, you may be responsible for public affairs advocacy, government relations and issues management, by promoting leadership categories through effective external media engagement (including social media management), risk and issues management, best practice engagement systems and empowerment of team members. You will develop and implement government affairs and/or communication plans to enable the company to meet business objectives and to level the playing field in the industry, implement a local community engagement strategy aligned to global Mondelēz International philanthropic efforts, and ensure activities are delivered within budget.

MENAP Lead: External Communications and Public Affairs

Will be responsible for building business relationships with business associates and institutions such as industry associations, key customers and media. The External Comms lead will focus on protecting and enhancing company’s reputation and image.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • To lead, manage and deliver an external communications program for corporate activities including media relations, public relations, corporate announcements and events.
  • Build maintain and develop government relations.
  • Advocate with different stakeholders to influence and shape public policies.
  • To develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with key business areas and to provide an external communications advice and support to leadership and the business.
  • Map, develop and maintain MDLZ position and participation at trade associations
  • Manage proactive and reactive media enquiries, media releases, statements and briefings as well as building relationships with journalists and media outlets.
  • To manage the procurement of and relationships with PR, creative agencies and suppliers.
  • To assist and have an oversight on crisis and reputation management, and business continuity.
  • Develops media relations strategies and campaigns designed to enhance company and its products visibility in key business areas, including but not limited to mindful snacking and sustainability.
  • Directs external agency partner to support media relations goals, including oversight of all planning, media training, execution and KPI reporting.
  • Develops short-and long-term external company messaging for relevant topics in line with global messaging.
  • Evaluates proactive and reactive, as well as earned and paid, media and publicity opportunities and provides thoughtful recommendations based on ROI and experience.
  • Actively participates in cross-functional initiatives and builds strong partnerships with colleagues and company leaders.
  • Maintains a master calendar of executives and MDLZ media engagements.
  • Work closely with digital communications team to drive social media and website content related to the BU and its markets
  • Drive leadership communication on external forums and platforms including media, social media and speaking opportunities.
  • Develop overall communications and PR campaigns and activities while working closely with CGA and marketing teams for implementation
  • Present the company on external industry forums and work on a MENAP wide approach for the same
  • Manage and overlook market wide Media Monitoring

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Mass Communications, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration or related degree
  • Five to seven years of experience in similar position
  • Excellent presentation, communications and writing skills in Arabic and English language
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Confident in public speaking
  • Up to date on industry trends and able to stay ahead of the curve
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to think analytically and strategically
  • Strong relationship with industry associations and media outlets
  • Good knowledge on social media and crisis/issue communication
