Position Summary IEM is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for our Jacksonville, FL and will report into the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager for the automation integration team. The Technician is responsible for installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems to improve safety, quality, and productivity. This role supports automation projects from concept through installation, validation, and production launch while supporting ongoing manufacturing operations.   Key Responsibilities Assist with the design, development, optimization, and implementation of metal fabrication, assembly, and automated manufacturing processes and equipment. Support automation projects through equipment installation, testing, validation, production trials, and startup activities. Assist with troubleshooting and optimizing PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, electrical components, and related manufacturing equipment; support root cause analysis and corrective actions for downtime, quality, delivery, and safety issues. Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, SOPs, PFMEAs, control plans, and process-validation records. Collect and analyze production data to improve throughput, reduce scrap, increase OEE, and support capacity analysis. Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to support daily operations, process changes, and new technology implementation. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, including standard work, 5S, waste reduction, and visual management. Support quality assurance efforts by monitoring processes, identifying defects, and assisting with corrective-action implementation. Assist with capital equipment projects, including vendor coordination, basic project tracking, and equipment acceptance activities. Support the development and delivery of operator and design-engineer training on manufacturing processes, standard work, and safety requirements. Promote and enforce safety protocols, quality standards, regulatory requirements, 5S practices, and operational policies. Support cross-training and upskilling initiatives in partnership with Learning & Development. Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and organization.   Competencies Hands-on knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, automation, and quality-control practices. Experience or familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and industrial electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software, such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and continuous-improvement tools. Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality standards and manufacturing safety protocols. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams. Demonstrated initiative, willingness to learn, and potential to take on increasing responsibility in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.   Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical certification, associate degree, or diploma in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, automation, or manufacturing engineering technology preferred. Two to five years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, industrial equipment, or manufacturing automation environment preferred. Experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and basic diagnostic tools. Basic understanding of quality systems, process documentation, and production metrics. Experience supporting projects, coordinating with vendors, or participating in equipment installation and commissioning is preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
