Manufacturing Systems Engineer
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving digital manufacturing systems used on the production floor. This role focuses on the day-to-day ownership, support, and continuous improvement of the Tulip Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to ensure manufacturing operations are efficient, reliable, and compliant.
Working closely with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and IT, this position helps enable digital workflows, electronic records, and real-time shop-floor data in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, test, and maintain Tulip MES applications that support manufacturing execution and electronic manufacturing records
- Build and improve digital workflows, operator interfaces, forms, and dashboards
- Partner with Operations and Engineering to convert manual or paper-based processes into digital solutions
- Provide daily system support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for manufacturing users
- Monitor system performance and address recurring issues to improve reliability and usability
- Support system updates, testing, releases, and user acceptance activities
- Maintain system documentation, configurations, and support materials
- Ensure digital manufacturing systems meet GMP, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Support change control, validation, testing documentation, and audit readiness
- Collaborate with Quality and Validation teams to ensure compliant and sustainable system use
- Assist with basic equipment connectivity and data flow troubleshooting
- Support production needs in a multi-shift manufacturing environment, including occasional off-hours support
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field
- 2+ years of experience supporting automation, manufacturing systems, controls, or related engineering roles in a regulated manufacturing environment
Preferred
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or digital manufacturing tools
- Familiarity with PLC, HMI, and shop-floor system integration
- Experience working in GMP-regulated industries (medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, food & beverage)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing and technical teams
- Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Working knowledge of digital manufacturing systems and data-driven processes
- Proficiency with standard computer tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)
Working Conditions
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to wear required PPE
- Ability to support operations during off-shift hours when needed
The estimated salary range for this role is between $104,700-129,700. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux’s bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
