Mapping Application Engineer

1. Mapping System Validation & Data Quality Test and validate robotic mapping systems, spanning hardware and software, in large-scale, unstructured real-world environments. Own QA/QC of large-scale 3D point cloud datasets prior to customer delivery, serving as the final quality gate for mapping deliverables. Inspect, clean, align, and verify mapping outputs using professional 3D processing tools. Identify and triage issues across sensors, mapping pipelines, and robot behavior, reproducing failures and working with engineering teams to resolve root causes. Develop lightweight scripts and tools that improve testing, QA workflows, and data handling. Define and uphold data quality and system reliability standards across all customer deliverables.
2. Solution Delivery & Field Operations Own end-to-end delivery of mapping data products, including data capture, processing, quality assurance and final handoff to customers. Provide on-site and remote support during field deployments. Prepare and conduct technical demonstrations, pilots, and evaluations that showcase mapping capabilities to prospective and existing customers. Manage mapping projects from kickoff through delivery, coordinating timelines, scope, and expectations across customer stakeholders and internal teams. Translate field observations and customer feedback into actionable input for engineering teams. Contribute to scalable deployment practices, documentation, and playbooks that make future rollouts faster and more repeatable.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience in 3D mapping systems, testing and integration, or field deployment of complex technical systems. Scripting proficiency in Python or Bash to automate testing and data workflows. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills spanning software, hardware, and networking layers. Strong attention to detail and high standards for data quality and correctness. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users. Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments. Willingness to travel and work on-site with customers as needed.

Familiarity with LiDAR systems, geospatial data, georeferencing, and coordinate systems, or experience with survey control and calibration workflows. Familiarity with point cloud and survey software such as CloudCompare, Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, or Trimble RealWorks. Experience working directly with customers in high-stakes, fast-paced settings, translating needs into technical solutions. Experience with project management tools such as Jira, Wrike, or Confluence.
