Medical Assistant

This remote role supports patients living with complex neurological conditions through coordinated, compassionate virtual care. You’ll serve as a trusted clinical partner to providers, helping prepare patients and ensure visits run smoothly. The position combines clinical support, medical record review, patient advocacy, and care coordination. You’ll work across specialized programs and help patients navigate testing, referrals, insurance, and treatment requirements. Support providers with virtual patient rooming, clinical history collection, visit preparation, and required documentation for neurology appointments. Perform and accurately score standardized clinical assessments, including the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Review medical records, laboratory results, and imaging reports to identify relevant clinical gaps and support timely clinical decision-making. Support specialized care programs, including dementia care and anti-amyloid therapy pathways. Coordinate required testing, documentation, medical records, referrals, and communication with infusion centers and imaging facilities. Facilitate referrals for respite care, home safety assessments, and other services that support patients and caregivers. Identify urgent or clinically significant concerns and escalate them appropriately to providers and other members of the care team. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, care coordinators, navigators, and other cross-functional teams to maintain coordinated, patient-centered care. Communicate compassionately with patients and caregivers while helping them navigate insurance, billing, clinical, and administrative barriers in a HIPAA-compliant manner. Requirements 2–3+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting. Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage multiple clinical priorities accurately. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an empathetic and patient-centered approach. High technical proficiency with computer-based workflows and videoconferencing platforms. Reliable high-speed internet and access to a private, HIPAA-compliant workspace suitable for remote clinical work. Active Medical Assistant certification is preferred. 4–5+ years of Medical Assistant experience is preferred. Experience in telemedicine, virtual care, startup environments, or rapidly changing organizations is advantageous. Prior neurological care experience or a strong interest in developing specialized expertise in neurological conditions is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required. A proactive, curious, collaborative mindset and strong commitment to patients and caregivers are important for success in the role.
