Overview

WHO WE ARE

Full job description

WHO WE ARE Hyperbolic Labs is on a mission to democratize AI by breaking down the barriers to computing power with our Open-Access AI Cloud. By making better use of idle computing resources across the globe, we offer an innovative GPU marketplace and AI inference service that promise affordability and accessibility for all. As pioneers at the intersection of AI and open-source technology, we believe in an open future where AI innovation is limited only by imagination, not by access to resources. We're looking for forward-thinking individuals who share our passion for making AI universally accessible, secure, and affordable. Join us in building a platform that empowers innovators everywhere to turn their visionary AI projects into reality. ABOUT THE ROLE We're seeking a Platform Engineer to design and build the control plane that powers Hyperbolic's GPU marketplace. This is the "aggregator brain" that transforms raw compute from hundreds of diverse vendors into a unified, programmable product. You'll architect the abstractions, policies, and golden paths that enable thousands of developers to seamlessly access GPU resources across our global network without thinking about the underlying complexity. In this role, you'll design the tenant management system, build resource lifecycle APIs, implement identity and access control, establish billing and quota frameworks, and create the multi-cloud abstractions that make our platform feel native regardless of the underlying provider. You'll work closely with our engineering team to craft elegant solutions for complex distributed systems challenges, ensuring our control plane is robust, scalable, and developer-friendly. This is a foundational engineering role where your architectural decisions will shape how AI developers worldwide interact with compute resources. WHO YOU ARE

  • Expert in platform engineering with experience designing and building control planes for cloud platforms, developer platforms, or infrastructure services
  • Expert-level software engineering skills in Go (Golang) with a track record of building and operating production distributed systems and infrastructure services.
  • Strong background in API design and development, including RESTful APIs, resource lifecycles, versioning strategies, and multi-cloud abstractions
  • Deep understanding of multi-tenancy architecture including tenant isolation, project hierarchies, resource quotas, and billing integration
  • Experience with identity, access management, and policy systems including SSO integration, organizational structures, role-based access control (RBAC), and fine-grained permissions
  • Proven ability to design "golden paths" and developer experiences that abstract complexity while maintaining power and flexibility
  • Strong systems thinking with ability to design scalable, maintainable architectures for distributed control planes
  • Experience building compliance hooks, policy enforcement, and governance frameworks for cloud platforms
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate across product, engineering, and business teams
  • Track record of building production-grade platform services used by developers or enterprises PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience building cloud platforms, PaaS, or infrastructure-as-a-service products
  • Deep experience building backend services in Go, including API servers, controllers/operators, resource lifecycle management systems, and distributed control plane components
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes control plane architecture, custom resource definitions (CRDs), and operator patterns
  • Familiarity with billing systems, metering, usage tracking, and quota enforcement mechanisms
  • Experience with service mesh, API gateway technologies, and rate limiting strategies
  • Background in security, compliance frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA), and audit logging
  • Contributions to open-source platform or infrastructure projects
  • Experience at companies like AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or fast-growing infrastructure startups Hyperbolic is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
