Middle Embedded Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Middle Embedded Engineer based in Brazil. This role focuses on industrial automation modernization, embedded engineering, and the transformation of legacy PLC-based systems. You will analyze existing industrial solutions and contribute to migration strategies and modern technology architectures. The position offers hands-on involvement in refactoring legacy code into modular, scalable, and maintainable solutions. You will work with industrial automation technologies, system integration, software architecture, and object-oriented programming practices. The role involves close collaboration with international engineering teams, customers, and technical stakeholders. You will contribute to modernization planning, design reviews, technical recommendations, and implementation initiatives. Analyze existing PLC-based solutions and legacy implementations to identify modernization and migration opportunities. Support re-architecture initiatives that transition legacy PLC-centric systems toward modern, scalable technology frameworks. Refactor monolithic, complex, or poorly documented legacy code into modular and reusable architectures. Apply object-oriented programming concepts within modern industrial automation environments. Optimize memory mapping, user-defined data types (UDTs), and tag structures to improve system maintainability and performance. Design and implement standardized state-machine approaches, including PackML-based models. Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to understand technical requirements, modernization objectives, and migration constraints. Contribute to system integration activities, technical design reviews, modernization planning, and architectural recommendations. Support cross-functional engineering initiatives involving industrial automation, embedded technologies, and software transformation. Document technical solutions and contribute to engineering standards and best practices. Requirements At least 2 years of professional experience in PLC development or industrial automation. Strong understanding of PLC programming concepts and industrial control systems. Hands-on experience with at least one major PLC ecosystem, such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Beckhoff, or Schneider Electric. Experience analyzing, maintaining, or modernizing legacy industrial systems. Understanding of software architecture, refactoring practices, and technology migration projects. Strong problem-solving, debugging, and system integration capabilities. Familiarity with object-oriented design principles is desirable. Experience with PLCopen standards and related tools is a plus. Experience with object-oriented industrial programming in TwinCAT, CODESYS, or comparable environments is advantageous. Background in industrial software modernization, digital transformation, or automotive environments is a plus. Upper-intermediate English proficiency or higher, with the ability to collaborate effectively in international environments. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work across international and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
